Our programs and teams are designed at each age level to develop connection, commitment and accountability.

-
Connection: We encourage connection within teams on and off the floor keeping teams together over multiple seasons, as well as connection across the club with opportunities to train with other teams.

-
Commitment: 3 & D is looking for athletes that want to commit to basketball as a priority. However, multi-sport athletes are supported and encouraged at 3 & D. We believe that connection and commitment to a team over years is more important than making every practice when there are seasonal conflicts with other sports.

-
Accountability: Each coach is continuously trained on the 3 & D curriculum and meet with players to discuss development areas. Players learn to self-advocate and take responsbility for their performance and development. Parents are asked to support athletes, while also reinforcing development areas and a work-to-get-better mentality versus focusing on playing time or results. Hudl is used to record, stat, and clip games to help measure growth and build IQ through film.

How are teams formed?Based on tryouts, teams are formed based on age, grade level and ability. If there is more than one team at a grade level, we will form teams by ability level. It's also very normal to have a team composed of players from spit grades or under a certain age. Many tournaments have elite, competitive and developmental divisions. We find players and coaches have the best experience when they are competing with players at a similar ability level.

How many players on a team3&D targets 9 to 10 players on a team. It can be difficult for coaches to get the 9th and 10th player meaningful minutes on a basketball team. As a result, 3&D would rather limit the number of full-time team players and provide more practice player opportunities. However, in certain circumstances and seasons, when we know many of the players on the team will have other sport conflicts, we may extend rosters up to a larger number (e.g., 12) to ensure there are enough players to play each weekend. Because 3&D is a competitive program, game play is not guaranteed. As a result, if a full roster does show up to games, some players (9-12) may see much more limited playing time.
-
How is Playing Time decided?3&D is a competitive program. As a result, playing time is competitively allocated and not guaranteed in any way. 3&D coaches try to get every player meaningful minutes in a game. However, playing time is at the complete discretion of the 3&D coaches and should be based on (in practices and games) a player’s: attitude, effort, abiliy to execute offensive and defensive schemes, skill level, attendance, commitment, preparation and performance. 3&D staff will discuss, with the player only and without comparisons to other players on the team, how a player can improve and impact the team to result in more playing time. 3&D staff will always discuss the well-being and overall development of a child with their parent but will not have discussions with a parent regarding playing time under any circumstances. 3&D believes that the competitive nature of playing time, self-advocacy of having players address their improvement with coaches, and responding with hard-work to earn more minutes are all critical components of why competitive sports prepares youth to become successful adults.

When do we know game schedules? We usually have an estimated tournament schedule 2-3 months out. However, tournament directors do not release specific game schedules and times until the Wednesday before the weekend of the games. Coaches quickly post those game times in teamsnap and request everyone to mark their availability.
-
Is it normal to have large margins of victory (+/-20 points)? It's not uncommon in club and AAU basketball to win or lose games by very large margins. Even very competitive teams can end up losing a game by 60 and then turn around and win the next game by 50, especially on the girls' side where finding consistent levels of same grade level competition can be difficult. We do not control the scheduling of games or opponents. However, we are continuously working with tournament directors, other clubs and schedulers to find games that are within a competitive 20-point margin either way.
-
What is the cost of the program? The season cost is a single amount that varies based on multiple factors, including length of the season. The payment of the season can be broken into installments over the season, but the commitment of accepting a roster spot is to pay the entire season fee with not exceptions, even for injury. Unfortunately, after a roster spot is accepted by registering for the team, the club cuts other players that could have filled the paying roster position and makes non-refundable expenditures on facilities, coaches, etc. Cost with tentative schedules will be provided to athletes and parents before making a decision to accept a roster spot on a team for each season.
-
What does 3&D offer above other programs for the cost?3&D is a more committed program than most other local club offerings. Extras included in the price: (1) hudl video storage to record and watch back games (2) hudl assist to automatically provide team and player stats within 24hrs of uploading game video (3) game film clipped by coaches on hudl to help players reach the next level and the advanced skill of learning from film (4) longer and/or additional practices to accelerate individual and team development (5) team builder events/parties (6) built in coach training fees to ensure coaches are constantly learning and improving all of this above and beyond the normal practice and tournament play club offerings
-
Is the Uniform Package required?Yes, but only for new players. If you already have a 3&D uniform from a previous season you do not need to purchase another gear package unless you wish to re-order the uniform for a new fit.
-
Can I quit the team and stop paying or request a refund part way through the season? No. Unfortunately, after a roster spot is accepted by registering for the team, the club cuts other players that could have filled the paying roster position and makes non-refundable expenditures on facilities, coaches, etc.
